“See the world, follow a map to it’s edges and keep going. Forgo the plans and trust your instincts, and let curiosity be your guide. Change hemispheres, and sleep with unfamiliar stars and let the journey unfold before you…..”

We seriously love our job, and being given the opportunity to travel to such an amazing destination as Hoi An, Vietnam to film for Crystal and Darren, was one of the highlights of our career. Crystal and Darren, live outside the box and never do anything typical, so the question of, why get married in Vietnam becomes the question of, why not get married in Vietnam?

The one thing we really loved in filming this wedding was the journey that Crystal & Darren took all their guests, as well as ourselves on. They chose Vietnam not only because of the culture and the amazing scenery but also as it was a place none of their guests had been to before. They pushed their family and friends outside of their comfort zones, to try new experiences and take away with them a gift no money could ever buy. Much like a marriage, this was a journey of twists and turns, amazing highs and new experiences around every corner.

We were lucky enough to share this adventure with photographer Ashley Karakatsanis from Ashli.k Photography. We trekked the open roads of Vietnam together scouting for locations unlike anything we would ever find in Melbourne.

On the day of the wedding the groom and guests were ferried in by boat to The Red Bridge Restaurant, nestled amongst the lush palms and tropical foliage.  As Crystal walked across the bridge to see Darren, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the place.  A really touching ceremony followed, led by celebrant and wedding planner Nadine, and afterwards we whisked the couple away for a quick photo shoot in the local rice fields and the historical Old Town of Hoi An.  As the reception started, a traditional Lion Dancers and martial arts show welcomed the newly weds.

I don’t think we can ever thank Crystal and Darren enough for this amazing life experience, and we are so excited to share this clip and hope you can all experience a little of the Hoi An, Vietnam magic for yourselves…
